Franconia Notch State Park

Franconia Notch State Park occupies a narrow pass through New Hampshire's White Mountains near the town of Franconia. For generations its most famous feature was the Old Man of the Mountain, a series of granite ledges that formed the profile of a human face and served as New Hampshire's state symbol until the formation collapsed in 2003. The park also includes Flume Gorge, an 800-foot granite chasm with walls up to 90 feet high, and an aerial tramway to the summit of Cannon Mountain. Echo Lake and several hiking trails round out the park within the notch.
