Fountain of Youth

The Fountain of Youth is a small well enclosed in a white gazebo along Pilottown Road in Lewes, Delaware. Legend holds that the area's first Dutch colonists discovered the spring in 1631, giving rise to the tale of a fountain with restorative powers. The gazebo seen today isn't original; it was built in 1937 by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce as part of a town homecoming celebration. In 2019, a local preservation volunteer and her husband repainted the structure and cleared out debris that had accumulated in the well, letting it flow again.
