Fontainebleau State Park

Fontainebleau State Park sits on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain near Mandeville, Louisiana, on land once part of a 19th-century sugar plantation established by Bernard de Marigny. The ruins of the plantation's brick sugar mill, built around 1829, still stand within the park. A section of the Tammany Trace, a rail-trail built along a former railroad corridor, runs through the park and connects it to nearby towns. The park's lakefront beach and boardwalk trails through marsh and forest make it a popular destination on the northshore.
