DeSoto State Park

DeSoto State Park sits atop Lookout Mountain near Fort Payne, Alabama, and includes DeSoto Falls, a waterfall on the West Fork of Little River. The park lies near Little River Canyon National Preserve, often described as one of the deepest canyons east of the Mississippi River. Its name references Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, whose 16th-century expedition passed through the broader region. Trails through the park's forest connect several smaller waterfalls and rock outcrops along the plateau.
