Iron-on patch

Denver Union Station

$8.00

Denver Union Station is the main railway station and central transportation hub of Denver, at 17th and Wynkoop Streets in Lower Downtown, with the historic station house, an open-air train hall, a 22-gate underground bus concourse and a light rail station. The first union depot opened here in 1881; a fire in 1894 destroyed its central portion, which was rebuilt in the Romanesque Revival style. In 1914 that center was torn down and replaced by the present, larger Beaux-Arts central hall by Gove & Walsh, built to handle the station's growing passenger traffic. After decades of decline, a renovation begun in 2012 turned the station into the centerpiece of a transit-oriented development on the old railyards. The station house reopened in 2014 with the 112-room Crawford Hotel, restaurants and shops, and it now serves Amtrak, commuter rail to Denver International Airport and regional buses.
