Iron-on patch

Delaware Park

$8.00

Delaware Park is the 376-acre centerpiece of the park and parkway system Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed for Buffalo between 1868 and 1876. Olmsted called it simply The Park and dammed Scajaquada Creek to make what is now Hoyt Lake; the grounds divide into the open Meadow Park to the east and the Water Park to the west, with the Scajaquada Expressway cutting across. It holds the Buffalo Zoo, a golf course, the 1912 Rose Garden pergola, an 18-foot bronze replica of Michelangelo's David dedicated in 1903, and the free summer Shakespeare in Delaware Park festival. The Buffalo AKG Art Museum sits on its western edge and the Buffalo History Museum on its northern edge. The park system was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
