DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun

$8.00

DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun is the home, studio and gallery that artist Ettore "Ted" DeGrazia built on 10 acres in the Catalina Foothills near Swan Road and Skyline Drive in Tucson. DeGrazia bought the land in 1949 and began building in 1951 with the open-air Mission in the Sun chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe and Father Kino, followed by a series of expressionistic adobe buildings. The main gallery, finished in 1965 with the help of Yaqui and Tohono O'odham friends, has cactus flooring and exposed wood beams and holds thirteen galleries of his original work. The property is now a museum of DeGrazia's art and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district in 2006.
