Iron-on patch

Coolidge Park

$8.00

Coolidge Park is an 11.2-acre riverfront park at 150 River Street on Chattanooga's North Shore, where the Walnut Street Bridge comes ashore on the north bank of the Tennessee River. At its center, in a glass-walled pavilion, is the Bud Ellis Carousel, a fully restored 1894 G.A. Dentzel carousel whose 52 animals were carved from solid wood by local master woodcarver Bud Ellis and community volunteers during a 12-year restoration. The park also has an interactive play fountain ringed by carved stone creatures, open lawns, the Walker Pavilion, river access for paddlers and a stretch of the Tennessee Riverwalk. It opened in 1999 and is named for Charles H. Coolidge, a World War II Medal of Honor recipient from Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Renaissance Park lies next door.
