Iron-on patch

Confluence Park

$8.00

Confluence Park is a riverside park in Denver where Cherry Creek flows into the South Platte River, at the edge of Lower Downtown. In May 1858 William Greeneberry Russell's prospecting party began its search for gold at this spot; they found none here but turned up 'good diggings' a few miles south, setting off the Colorado Gold Rush, and their encampment grew into Denver. Today the park's concrete trails, grassy banks and river overlooks are busy with walkers, runners and cyclists, and two pedestrian bridges cross the South Platte and Cherry Creek. The eastern edge of the South Platte has been shaped into a kayak run across the water from REI's Colorado flagship store. Part of the park once held an Xcel Energy substation, which was moved so the park could grow.
