Colt State Park, in Bristol, Rhode Island, occupies the former farm estate of Samuel Pomeroy Colt, a businessman and politician connected to the Colt firearms family, who developed the property as a model farm in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The state acquired the land in the 1960s and opened it as a park, preserving open waterfront lawns along Narragansett and Mount Hope Bays along with several bronze cattle sculptures from the farm era. It connects to the East Bay Bike Path, a rail-trail running along the Rhode Island shoreline. The park is popular for picnicking, biking, and water views with little development to obstruct them.
