Cincinnati Union Terminal

$8.00

Cincinnati Union Terminal is a 1933 Art Deco train station in the Queensgate neighborhood, built to replace five local stations used by seven railroads. Its half-dome Rotunda holds two huge mosaic murals by Winold Reiss, part of a set of sixteen depicting Cincinnati industry commissioned for the terminal in 1931. Passenger trains left in 1972, and after a short life as the Land of Oz shopping mall the building reopened in 1990 as the Cincinnati Museum Center. Under the one dome are the Cincinnati History Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, the Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Cincinnati History Library and Archives and an Omnimax theater, and Amtrak's Cardinal still stops here three times a week. A $228 million restoration was completed in 2018.
