Cabrillo National Monument

$8.00

Cabrillo National Monument is a U.S. national monument at the southern tip of the Point Loma peninsula in San Diego, California. It commemorates Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, who on September 28, 1542, led the first European expedition known to have landed on what is now the West Coast of the United States. The monument includes the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, a San Diego landmark since 1855 that is now a museum, and a statue of Cabrillo commissioned by the Portuguese government. The Cabrillo Landing Site was registered as California Historical Landmark No. 56 in 1932, and the monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
