Iron-on patch

Broadway Market

$8.00

The Broadway Market is a public market at 999 Broadway in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood on Buffalo's East Side. A group of citizens started it in 1888 on a city-donated parcel to serve the Polish and other Eastern European immigrants settling the East Side, and it grew to fill the block bounded by Broadway, Lombard and Gibson Streets. The present building, the market's third, went up in 1956 with about 90,000 square feet of retail space and a parking ramp, and the city renovated it in the mid-1980s. Year-round vendors sell groceries, deli and bakery goods, and the market's biggest season is the run-up to Easter, when seasonal vendors join them and the doors open at 7 a.m. for Paczki Day. It is managed by Broadway Market Management Inc.
