Iron-on patch

Belle Isle Park

$8.00

Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park in the Detroit River, developed in the late 19th century to a plan by Frederick Law Olmsted, only parts of which were built. The island is owned by the City of Detroit and has been run as a state park by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources since 2014 under a 30-year lease. It holds the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a nature center and a half-mile swimming beach, with views of both the Detroit and Windsor skylines. The island is linked to the mainland by the MacArthur Bridge, which you can walk or bike across from near the east end of the Detroit Riverwalk at no charge; cars and motorcycles need a Michigan Recreation Passport or the state park entrance fee.
