Beavertail State Park occupies the rocky southern tip of Conanicut Island, at the mouth of Narragansett Bay near Jamestown, Rhode Island. Its lighthouse site dates to 1749, making it one of the oldest lighthouse locations in the country, though the current tower was built in 1856 after earlier structures were destroyed. The park's open, wave-battered rock ledges are popular for fishing, tide pooling, and watching storms roll in off the Atlantic. There are no sandy beaches here, just exposed granite shoreline and ocean views.
