Iron-on patch

Angel Oak

$8.00

Angel Oak is a southern live oak in Angel Oak Park on Johns Island, about a 30 to 40 minute drive southwest of downtown Charleston. The tree is estimated to be 400 to 500 years old, stands about 66 feet tall, and shades about 17,200 square feet, with its longest limb reaching 187 feet. Its name comes from the estate of Justus Angel and his wife Martha Waight Tucker Angel. The City of Charleston has owned the tree and the surrounding park since 1991, and in 2013 the Lowcountry Land Trust protected 17 adjacent acres from development.
