Iron-on patch

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum

$8.00

The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is a city-owned museum of the history, science and art of ballooning and lighter-than-air flight, beside the grounds of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. It opened on October 1, 2005, and is named for Albuquerque balloonists Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson, who crewed Double Eagle II, the first gas balloon to complete a transatlantic flight, in 1978. The 59,000-square-foot building, designed by Gerald A. Martin, Ltd., centers on an 80-foot-tall main gallery under a tensile fabric roof. Exhibits trace ballooning history and science with items from balloonists such as Ed Yost, Joseph Kittinger and Ben Abruzzo, and the museum adds a balloon flight simulator and the Tim Anderson 4-D Theater.
