America the Beautiful Park

$8.00

America the Beautiful Park is a 16.9-acre city park at 126 Cimino Drive on the west edge of downtown Colorado Springs, south of Colorado Avenue near the meeting of Monument and Fountain creeks. It grew out of the city's 1992 Downtown Action Plan and a 1998 voter-approved bond issue that included $11 million for the park, and City Council approved its master plan in July 2000. The finished park was dedicated on September 30, 2005. Its centerpiece is the Julie Penrose Fountain, a sculptural fountain representing the movement of water between the atmosphere and the earth, and it also has the Fantasy Playground, interactive art pieces called Quirks, walking paths, a picnic pavilion and access to the regional trail system. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum is a short walk away.
