Iron-on patch

Allentown Historic District

$8.00

The Allentown Historic District covers the Allentown neighborhood just north of downtown Buffalo, centered on Allen Street and Elmwood Avenue and running north to North Street and east to Main Street. It is named for Lewis F. Allen, whose cattle path became Allen Street. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 with about 733 buildings, mostly Italianate, Queen Anne, Shingle style and Second Empire, the district was expanded in 2012. It takes in Kleinhans Music Hall, home of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Olmsted-designed Symphony Circle along with Days Park and Arlington Park. Allentown is known for its artists, galleries and antique shops, some of Buffalo's busiest nightlife and dining, and the Allentown Art Festival, held since 1958.
