Overseas Highway
US-1 from Miami to Key West, hopping the Florida Keys one bridge at a time on the bones of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad — an undertaking called impossible until it opened in 1912, and destroyed by a single hurricane in 1935. Eleven stops from the Art Deco District to the last buoy on the continent, by way of the first undersea park in the country and the only place on earth the Key deer lives.
